Our Charities
Apart from playing in the snow & getting cold, we wanted to give something back.
In our quest to get to the North Pole we are attempting to raise money for 2 charities. Cancer Research UK & Wooden Spoon. Please follow the links below if you’d like to read some more about our charities, & if you’d like to donate to our charities, please click on the links to get to our JustGiving.com websites.
Cancer Research UK is the world's leading independent organisation dedicated to cancer research.
They support research into all aspects of cancer through the work of more than 3,000 scientists, doctors and nurses.

Their purpose
Their purpose describes what we will do to achieve our vision:
1.    They carry out world-class research to improve our understanding of cancer and find out how to prevent, diagnose and treat different kinds of cancer
2.    They ensure that our findings are used to improve the lives of all cancer patients
3.    They help people to understand cancer, the progress we are making and the choices each person can make
4.    They work in partnership with others to achieve the greatest impact in the global fight against cancer
Fundraising and Supporters
•    Cancer Research UK is almost entirely funded by donations from the public.
•    The charity has a network of around 650 shops and 1,000 local fundraising groups.
•    Over 30,000 volunteers give their time freely to support Cancer Research UK.
•    Legacies are our single largest source of income and fund nearly half of our research.
•    More than a million people donate regularly to Cancer Research UK.
•    Over one million women have walked, jogged or run in one of our Race for Life events.

"Wooden Spoon aims to enhance the quality and prospect of life for children and young people in the United Kingdom and Ireland who are disadvantaged physically, mentally or socially."
Spoon’s strength and purpose, however, have been to convert the funds derived from their fundraising activities to benefit socially, mentally or physically disadvantaged children and young people.
They support work that addresses a wide range of social problems as well as physical illnesses and disabilities ranging from cancer, cystic fibrosis and autism. Spoon has a positive impact on disability in all its forms and comforts the sick and needy whenever they have been able to do so.
They meet challenges with good humour and much enjoyment. They create events and activities that make demands on both our sporting and social prowess. They are driven by a collective ambition to see Wooden Spoon continue to grow in stature and thereby continue to have a positive impact on disadvantaged children and young people throughout the United Kingdom.
Since 2004, Spoon has consistently raised over £1m each year for distribution to local and national projects. With each passing year they want to continue to raise the bar higher and help more children with physical, mental and social challenges.
